The new FEMTEC 2-parts Patient Interface Kit
The spherical design of the interface avoids the IOP increasing applanation. At the same time, the shape of the interface also enables a variety of therapeutic applications. The sterile kit requires only a low vacuum for a secure fit. The computer controlled vacuum is about 50% lower than with other methods. The soft suction ring adapts to a broad range of patient eye topologies. For easy fixation to the spherical interface, the suction ring is locked using a clip with a natural "PRESS" locking mechanism.

The first applanation-free Patient Interface approach (patented*)
A: The unique spherical Patient Interface of the FEMTEC workstation does not require the applanation of the cornea.The laser's cuts are also curved, following stromal lamella. The FEMTEC uses tracker-friendly circular patterns. Patient Interface suction is computerized and permanently controlled. * Covered by US Patent US 6.730.074 B: Other femtosecond lasers require an applanation of the cornea e.g. with a flat contact glass, compressing the cornea and inducing higher intraocular pressure. Central bubble layers can interfere with Excimer tracker systems. Suction is typically applied manually without system monitoring and control.
