Penetrating Keratoplasty (PKP)
The FEMTEC Laser is setting a new standard in the field of penetrating keratoplasty.
With the FEMTEC Workstation the operator has a very versatile type of
laser system at his disposal. Donor cornea and recipient cornea can be
accurately cut using the FEMTEC laser. Both procedures (donor and
patient cornea) are carried out using matching parameters (diameters/
incision angle). The incision is initially carried out from the
anterior chamber without applying mechanical stress to the endothelium.
Matching of the transplant is achieved by the spherical shape of the
patient interface. The quality and accuracy of such matching incisions cannot
be reached with conventional mechanical trephines. The ability of the
operation microscope to combine the integrated monitoring functions of
the FEMTEC Laser increases the safety of the laser applications.
The newest option allows the cutting of the donor cornea as well as the recipient cornea in various shapes. One option is cutting of the graft in the shape of a decagon. It provides an easy and exact positioning and allows easy suturing.
