LASIK Flap Creation

LASIK CustomFlap Creation

The laser-cutting LASIK Flap represents a milestone in corneal surgery. FLAP-related complications, such as button holes and free caps, are unheard of with the 20/10 PERFECT VISION FEMTEC Laser. The laser's high-precision technology enables precise corneal thicknesses to be pre-programmed. Compared to conventional mechanical microkeratomes, the deviations shown by FEMTEC FLAPS in relation to pre-determined incision-depths is normally only < 10µm. One further advantage is the optical and mechanical quality of the FLAP. The thickness of a FEMTEC FLAP is the same for the entire diameter and surface area of the flap. The problem of meniscus-type FLAPS being thicker on the periphery than in the centre does not arise. The reason for the high quality of the FEMTEC FLAP is the patented spherical patient interface, which perfectly espouses the curvature of the human cornea. The spherical 20/10 PV patient interface enables the cornea to be cut along a lamellar plane. This is made possible by the computer-guided laser focus travelling along both the x/y plane and the Z-axis. The unique patented design of the concave lens surface of the FEMTEC PI's prevents sharp increases in intraocular pressure. The surgeon is free to select parameters such as the site and width of the hinge, the diameter and thickness of the FLAP, as well as the angle of the cut edge. A FEMTEC FLAP has clean cut edges, which makes it easy to reposition the FLAP.

The innovative design of the FEMTEC laser offers both the user and the patient maximum safety and comfort. Thanks to a unique integrated design which, in addition to the magnification of the intraoperative procedure, combines data relating to vacuum status, mechanical forces acting on the eye, and even laser status, the operator can visually control the FEMTEC laser's system status and the treatment procedure at all times. Thanks to the unique integrated design of the FEMTEC laser, the low pressure of the suction ring on the patient's eye leads to minimal stress on the optic nerve and guarantees high-precision treatment. With the surgical microscope it is possible to visualise the data relating to vacuum, mechanical forces on the eye and laser status.
